“We regret to inform you that we need to withdraw our accepted abstract.” This sentence catches many organizers off guard, even though accepted abstract withdrawal happens on a fairly regular basis across scientific conferences of every size. And abstract withdrawal after acceptance is not always intentional, no. Most times it’s due to something unforeseen. The presenter may have fallen ill or could be unable to make it to the conference, or perhaps their work has been accepted elsewhere.
