Word Count Discrepancy and Editing Author Affiliations in Abstract Submissions

Why does the word count on Dryfta differ from the word count in the author's editor, preventing submission, and how can admins fix errors in author affiliations in submitted abstracts?

Dryfta's word count may differ from an author's editor because some word editors count hyphenated words as two separate words while Dryfta may count them as one, leading to discrepancies. This can cause abstracts under the set word limit to be flagged as exceeding it. 

To avoid submission issues, it's recommended to set the abstract word limit approximately 20 words higher than the intended maximum to accommodate these differences. 

Regarding author affiliations, if extra characters or errors appear and the submitter cannot edit them, organizers can directly correct these in the backend: navigate to 'People > Manage Contacts' in the Dryfta admin panel and update the co-authors' affiliation details there. 

This ensures consistent and accurate affiliation information in submissions.
