How to Restore Deleted User Orders After Modifying Email Address in Dryfta

Last updated Jul 19, 2026

Question

A Dryfta admin changed a participant's email address in the 'people' section and then cannot find the participant's ticket order. What could have caused this issue and how can it be resolved?

Answer

If you delete a user in Dryfta and then create a new user with the same email address, any orders associated with the deleted user will also be deleted. This can cause the order to disappear even though you created a new user with the same email.

To restore the order and the user data, follow these steps:
1. Delete the duplicate user that was created with the email address in question.
2. Go to the 'Restore Data' section in Dryfta.
3. Restore the original user with the specified email address. Restoring the user will also restore their associated orders.

To avoid this issue in the future when dealing with duplicate user accounts or changes in email addresses, use the 'Merge Duplicate' tool under the 'People' tab instead of deleting and recreating users. This will consolidate all related data including orders without losing any information.
