How to Process a Refund for a PayPal Payment in Dryfta

Last updated Jul 21, 2026

Question

If an attendee made a payment via PayPal and requests a refund, can I refund them directly through the Dryfta dashboard 'Refund' button, or do I need to process the refund through PayPal separately?

Answer

When a payment has been made via PayPal, you cannot issue an automated refund directly through the Dryfta dashboard.

The 'Refund' button in the Dryfta admin panel does not process refunds through PayPal. Instead, you need to log in to your PayPal account to issue the refund to the attendee.

After you complete the refund via PayPal, you should manually update the order status to 'Refunded' within your Dryfta dashboard to keep your records accurate.

Automated refunds within Dryfta are only currently available for payments processed via the Stripe gateway.
