How to Prevent Spam to Attendees from Publicly Visible Lists

Last updated Jul 17, 2026

Question

Our event attendees are receiving spam emails, likely because their details are publicly visible on our event website. How can we prevent this from happening again?

Answer

Spam emails to attendees often occur when the attendee list is publicly accessible on your event website, allowing scammers to harvest names and match them with email addresses using external databases.

To prevent this, you should restrict the visibility of the attendee (and speaker) lists so only registered and logged-in users can access them.

In Dryfta, you can do this by navigating to Website & Apps > Website Designer > Navigation Menus, then editing the Attendees and/or Speakers menu items to set their visibility to logged-in users only.

This reduces the risk of external parties collecting attendee data and significantly lowers spam incidents.
