How to Perform Batch Updates on Contact Data via Import in Dryfta
Last updated Jul 20, 2026
Question
When performing batch updates on contact data by downloading a sample import file in Dryfta, the downloaded file has incorrect headers and appears corrupted. Additionally, if I download a larger group of contacts, delete some rows, and re-import, will the deleted contacts be removed from the database?
Answer
When you download a sample file template from the import contacts/update screen in Dryfta, sometimes the file might appear to have incorrect headers or a corrupt first line. This could be due to export formatting issues, so make sure to use the file format as provided and map the fields correctly during import.
Regarding deletion: If you download a set of contacts to update but delete some rows before re-importing, those deleted rows will NOT remove the corresponding contacts from the database. The import process only updates records mapped based on unique identifiers such as user ID or email address. Deleted rows in the import file simply mean those contacts are not updated but remain in the system.
Important: When doing batch updates, you must keep essential columns such as first name, last name, email address, and user ID in your import file for proper mapping and updating.
