How to Create a Real-Time Report of Submitted Abstracts with Primary Author Only

Last updated Jul 19, 2026

Question

How can I generate a real-time report listing all submitted abstracts showing only the primary author, submission preference, submission date, and link to the abstract, without duplicate entries or co-authors? Also, how do I filter abstracts based on their submission status?

Answer

To create a real-time report of all submitted abstracts with only the primary author and avoid duplicates of co-authors, follow these steps:

1. Use the 'Abstracts' module as the base for the report under Analytics > Custom Reports
2. Apply a filter for the 'Author Role' to include only 'Primary Authors'—this ensures each abstract appears once with only the main author.
3. Apply a filter on 'Abstract Status' to control which abstracts are included, such as 'Accepted', 'Pending Decision', or others. This filter helps exclude abstracts that are not yet submitted or under review, depending on your needs.

You can apply multiple filters together to refine the report content. For example, using both 'Author Role' and 'Abstract Status' filters can give you a list of primary authors for abstracts that are accepted or pending decision.

These filters are available in the report builder interface, typically via dropdown selections for module, user type, and status criteria. By carefully selecting these options, you can avoid confusion caused by duplicates and ensure your report displays the precise information needed for your event administration and review processes.
