How Does the Waitlist Work for Event Tickets in Dryfta?
Last updated Jul 20, 2026
Question
If I cancel a ticket for a user who is no longer attending, does the first person on the waitlist automatically receive a ticket? Or is additional action required by the admin or the waitlisted users?
Answer
In Dryfta, canceling a ticket for an attendee does not automatically assign a ticket to the first person on the waitlist. To manage the waitlist effectively and allow waitlisted attendees to purchase tickets, follow these steps:
1. Increase the ticket quantity for the relevant ticket type to make more tickets available.
2. Hide the ticket type from the public listing via Advanced Settings to prevent new direct purchases.
3. Obtain the direct ticket purchase link from the hidden ticket type.
4. Notify waitlisted attendees with a message including the direct purchase link so they can complete their ticket purchase.
This process ensures that waitlisted attendees are informed and can proceed to secure their tickets as spots become available. The system does not perform automatic ticket assignment from the waitlist upon cancellations, so manual action to notify and enable purchase is necessary.
